Lena :
A shortened form of Helena, from the Greek for "The bright one", Lena has been used as a name in its own right since the 19th century. St. Helena was the the mother of Constantine the Great in the 4th century and the daughter of the Prince of Cochester, the Old King Cole of the nursery rhyme. The singer Lena Horne is a modern bearer of the name.
