Isabel
Originally a Spanish form of "Elizabeth", meaning "God's promise". The name was imported into France and England in the middle ages. It was a royal name, borne by Queen Isabella of England (1296-1358), daughter of Philip lV of France. Williiam Shakespeare used the name for the heroine of his play, "Measure for Measure".

Isabel's mother, Elizabeth, sent us these lovely pictures of her beautiful little daughter, in her "Snowflake" dress and "Miss Muffet" shoes, and tells us:-

"We think she looked absolutely beautiful, and she was very well behaved!

We were so delighted with our Honfleur dress and with the gorgeous little shoes, although it was quite nerve-wracking ordering them at the end of January/beginning of February, so far in advance of the actual christening. Fortunately, everything fitted perfectly!"
